To install Monty's Games you must be at the DOS prompt, so if you are
in windows, exit windows and go to DOS.
You have already unzipped the file mgames2a.zip, so you should see the
following files -
MGAMES2A.ZIP (the original zip file)
DOSINSTS.EXE (a program that aids in the installation)
MGAME2AS.EXE (self extracting archive with all the game files)
README.TXT (this file)
INSTALL.BAT (a batch file to start the install program)
FILE_ID.DIZ (short description of Monty's Games)
ORDER.FRM (order form used to order registered copy of games)
To install Monty's Games, do the following -
1) Be sure you are in the directory that contains the files listed above.
2) At the DOS prompt type INSTALL and hit the Enter key.
You will be asked to choose the hard drive you want MONTY'S GAMES
installed to. If your only hard drive is 'C:' then just type C and
hit the Enter key.
MONTY'S GAMES will be installed to your hard drive in a directory
called MONTY2S. You can now start the games by typing MONTY2S.
NOTE: If you want to install MONTY'S GAMES in a different directory do this -
a) Copy the file "MGAME2AS.EXE" into the directory of choice.
b) Go to that directory and type MGAMES2AS <return>, and all the game files
will be extracted.
c) Start MONTY'S GAMES by typing MONTY2S <return>.
I like to run MONTY'S GAMES from DOS, but you can run them from Windows
if it is more convenient for you.
To setup MONTY'S GAMES to run from windows 3.1 -
1) Install MONTYS' GAMES using the DOS installation described above.
2) Start Windows (usually by typing WIN at the DOS prompt).
3) Activate the "Program manager" window and click on the 'File' menu at
the top left of the window. If you already have a Monty's Games program
group then skip 4, 5, and 6.
4) Click on 'New'.
5) Click on 'Program group' and 'OK'.
6) Type in the Description "Monty's Games" and click on 'OK'.
You now have a program group called Monty's Games. Now you create a program
item -
1) Click on the 'File' menu at the top of the Program manager window.
2) Click on 'New'.
3) Click on 'Program item' and 'OK'.
4) Type in the Description "Monty's Games unregistered".
5) Type in the Command line "MONTY2S".
6) Type in the working directory "C:\MONTY2S" where 'C' is the hard drive
where you installed Monty's Games. Click on 'OK' and your done.
To start the games from Windows, just double click on the "Monty's Games"
group and then double click on "Monty's Games unregistered".
If you are running WINDOWS 95, you can try running Monty'g Games from 95, but
you may have better results running them from DOS.
